Visiting Choirs at St Patrick’s Cathedral
Visiting choirs are welcome to lead the worship at St. Patricks. Both the Cathedral and the City have much to offer those who maintain and enhance our daily worship in this way. Choirs should have an understanding of Anglican Liturgy as the Eucharist (11am) and Evensong (3.15pm) are sung services.
Choirs come from all over the world to sing in the Cathedral and to enjoy life in Ireland’s ecclesiastical capital. The ancient and beautiful Cathedral boasts a glorious warm acoustic, a magnificent three-manual organ by Walker & Sons, London. Choirs are welcome to sing one or both cathedral services and are guaranteed a warm welcome from the clergy and community. Visiting choirs have the full use of the Music Hall with its Grand Piano.
There is an optional recital slot available on Saturdays. Visiting choirs may wish to have their singing recorded for private distribution after the event.
The majority of available dates fall during the months of July and August when the Cathedral Choir is on holiday. There are also a limited number of dates during the year when the Choir is again on holiday or on mid-term breaks.
Those who are interested in bringing their choir to St Patrick’s are invited to make contact with the Organist and Master of the Choristers as early as possible. It is useful if a specific set of dates can be given at the outset.
