From Monday 14th August to Friday 18th August 2017 at 5.00pm in the Cathedral, Choral Evensong will be sung by the Naylor Singers. We hope you can join us for this most traditional of Anglican services.

About the Naylor Singers:

The Naylor Singers are a group of about 30 adult singers who have a common interest in participating in cathedral services and gather twice a year for this purpose. The membership was originally drawn mainly from London chamber and church choirs, but now about half the members live and are active in church music across the UK. The Naylor Singers’ repertoire encompasses music from the early Renaissance to the present day.

The Naylor Singers are named after the great Edwardian composer Edward Woodall Naylor (son of John Naylor, organist of York Minster) whose anthem “Vox Dicentis” is one of the pinnacles of the English cathedral repertoire. Although the choir performs music from many periods and countries, we always like to include a work by one of the Naylors in our cathedral lists if appropriate.
